hi everybody,.

bought gods problem by bart ehrman's, firs book i have read from this author, he makes some interesting points about suffering(biblical vs the real world), jews view on jesus etc, and that he does not believe in the ot or nt but he does not consider himself to be an atheist.

JW sister tells me about 1975- amnesia strikes again!

she came in the jw world in 1966 with her mother- she was 6 years old.

she graduated from high school in 1976. during the 90 minutes i spent with her yesterday, she mentioned that the org never said the end was coming in 1975-" it was just a few who said that and they all left after 1976- which was good- because jah needed to cleanse the kh of all who were serving with just a date in mind.. i asked her, "don't you remember the assembly talk from 1969 or 1970, where the speaker said, "stay alive until 75"- no she didn't remember.. i explained that our kh had a co tell us from the platform," brothers there is only 18 months left until armageddon- wow, she exclaimed.. i continued my story, "the po's 16 year old son quit school in 1974- to become a regular pioneer- he was held up as a fine example in the cong- and used as an example at a circuit assembly that year of someone who putting jehovah's work first.

didn't you have some who quit school to pioneer back then?".

According to my dad at one of the weekend meetings the person doing the discourse said at the end of his talk that the end will come in 1975, but my dad also said that the majority considered 1975 not to be a big event and some left after 1975 (this was in Europe).

Why do baptized dubs treat unbaptized dubs like outcast?

i've been going to the hall every since i was little, but i've never been baptized.

i was a publisher, but i stepped down because i had sex with my boyfriend back in the day.

i've noticed that people act kind of coy toward me since i'm not baptized, and they treat other people like this too.

Joliette your not the only one, i had felt like an outcast for almost 30 years unbathtised, only the people who i grow up with didn't treat me this way,hypocrites aren't they? what happened to they shall not judge?? but consider yourself one of the lucky ones, most bathtised ex-members have it tuff.

DJ my heart is not heavy, I have not been cut off from my friends because I had never been bathtised, so you could say that I am really lucky for not making a bad decision because its very clear why most people have bad experiences from this religion. Another thing that's very clear is that you have a way with words, like a E thug Fred Franz reading all your posts affirms this.

My problem when making the decision to which religion to choose was how do I really know if this is gods religion? I dont believe in blind faith so to me the most logical thing to do was to a more liberal study to see if the Jehovahs Witnesses is the true religion, what I found out was

History is filled with "interpretations" that did not occur Luke6:43 Matthew 7:18

Belief in 1914/1919 is based in Astrology and the evolution doctrine of the Millenaries

biblical understandings is filled with one sided human reasoning

debates are not allowed

this religion as all the ingredients to be a mind controlling cult

It has phsycollogical and even fatal consequences - blood/shunning etc

Need advice on nasty ex-spouses

need some advice from anyone with a nasty ex please.

mine is a bitter, nasty jw, who has a very small iq, low self esteem, bad temper, and upset he got dumped and rejected basically to sum it all up.

so anytime we have to deal with each other on a topic such as the kids, doctor visits and stuff like that, he texts me nasty little digs and insults my parenting and tries to pump himself up to be superdad.

There is another good book called difficult personalities, its easy to read and mentions the majority of personalities pros and cons, and more importantly how to deal with them. Men are from mars and women are from venus has nothing to do with your situation but its a good book.

From what you wrote I would look into a restraining order, in this day of age discrimination should not tolerated.

Thanks for your reply DJ, you really didn't answer my question, nowhere in the chapter does it mention this caption as an interpretation, also the word you used "interpretation" is used in most prophecy e.g revelations, so this is an interpretation of prophecy. I understand why the interpretation changed and it wouldn't surprised me if it changed again.

Lets say that in 1989 when this book came out and I was at the meeting and told everyone that everyone from 1914 will die and not see the end of this system of things, wouldn't I be disfellowship because my "interpretation" differs with the interpretation of the governing body? Would you like me show you what the bible says about false prophets?

Dj could you give me just a simple answer to this question.

In the bottom of the last page of chapter 18 You Can Live Forever In Paradise Earth book it says "Some in this generation that lived in 1914 will see the end of this system of things and will survive Armageddom" (book made in 1989)

Is this called old light or false prophecy?
